Privacy Policy

The short version: UnsubNinja is a free inbox management tool. We keep it free by collecting anonymized email data — things like which companies send you email, where those emails land, and how people engage with them — and turning that into market research we sell to businesses. Your personal identity is never shared. We anonymize and strip personal details before any data leaves our systems. This page explains exactly how it all works.
1. Who We Are
UnsubNinja is operated by DATECH CONSULTING, LLC, a California limited liability company. When we say "we," "us," or "our," we mean DATECH CONSULTING, LLC.
2. What Data We Collect
We want to be specific here — no vague language, no surprises.
Account Information
- Your email address (used to create your account and authenticate with your email provider)
- Name (if provided by your email provider during sign-in)
- Device and browser information (type, OS, screen size)
Email Data
When you connect your inbox, we access your email to provide our cleanup, unsubscribe, and analytics features. The data we process may include:
- Sender information — sender name, email address, and domain, so we can identify and group subscriptions
- Email headers — routing information, authentication results (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), sending infrastructure details, unsubscribe headers
- Email content — we may process message content (subject lines, body text) as needed to provide features like link extraction, tracking pixel detection, and sender categorization. The scope of content we access may evolve as we improve the service
- Placement data — which folder or tab an email landed in (inbox, promotions, spam, etc.)
- Engagement signals — whether an email was opened, deleted, or marked as spam
- Timestamps — when emails were sent and received
- Links and tracking elements — URLs, unsubscribe links, and tracking pixels found in emails
We continuously evaluate what data is necessary to provide and improve our features. We aim to access only what's needed, and the specific data we process may change over time. Material changes will be reflected in updates to this policy.
Usage Data
- How you interact with the app (features used, unsubscribe actions taken)
- Performance and error data to improve the service
3. How We Keep This App Free
Let's be upfront: We monetize anonymized email metadata. This is how UnsubNinja stays free. We believe this is a fair exchange — you get a powerful inbox tool at no cost, and we get anonymized data that helps businesses understand email deliverability and market trends.
Here's exactly what that means:
- We anonymize your data before sharing. When data leaves our systems for B2B purposes, your personal identity is stripped. We use techniques like hashing, aggregation, and k-anonymity to ensure no individual user can be identified from the data we share.
- We keep sender domains in cleartext. Knowing that "company.com" sent an email is essential for deliverability analysis. This does not identify you.
- We aggregate the data. Individual email patterns are combined with data from many other users to create market-level insights — like "what percentage of emails from company.com land in spam across Gmail users."
- We sell these insights to businesses. Our B2B customers include email service providers, deliverability consultants, and brands who use this data to improve their email practices. They receive aggregate, anonymized data — never your personal information.
4. What We Do NOT Do
- We do not sell your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
- We do not share your data with advertisers for targeted advertising
- We do not have humans reading your emails — our systems process data automatically to provide features and generate anonymized insights
- We do not allow our B2B customers to identify individual users from the data we provide

6. Third-Party Sharing
We share data with third parties in the following ways:

- Service providers: Cloud hosting, analytics, and infrastructure providers who help us operate the service. These providers are bound by data processing agreements and only access data as needed to provide their services.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
7. Your Rights & Choices
